Tonyrefail is Tinsel Town
December 8, 2006
Tonyrefail streets were filled with all the fun of the festive period, from Father Christmas and his real reindeers to the Tonyrefail Ladies Choir.
Organised by the area’s three local Councillors – Councillor Russell Roberts, Leader of the Council, Councillor Eudine Hanagan and Councillor Robert McDonald – the fun began at Tonyrefail Leisure Centre where children got the chance to give Santa their Christmas lists, take a peak inside his grotto and meet his six real reindeers.
All proceeds from the event are going towards this years Mayor’s Charities.
Santa and his reindeers then led a procession through the fun packed streets to watch Councillor Russell Roberts, Councillor Eudine Hanagan and Councillor Robert McDonald turn on the towns Christmas lights.
Tonyrefail Ladies Choir helped to raise the Christmas spirits further with a number of Christmas Carols.
Cllr Russell Roberts really enjoyed the day, “It was great to see so many people in the area. It was a fun day for all the family and my fellow Councillors and I are delighted we have had the opportunity to provide such an event.
“As local members we will continue to work to make next years Christmas event bigger and better!”
Cllr Eudine Hanagan added: “Christmas is such a wonderful time of the year and it has been a pleasure to organise such an event for the communities we serve.
“Santa’s grotto and the reindeer were magical.”
