October 2, 2007

Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Council’s recycling champion was out and about on his travels again this week. Rhys Cycle travelled to Ynyswen to meet the youngsters at the village’s Cylch Meithrin and tell them all about the importance of recycling and the environment.

Rhys has become a firm favourite in the valley with his regular visits to primary and infants schools. Along with the Council’s Streetcare Awareness Team it was one of many typical visits he undertakes to local schools in an effort promote recycling in the county borough.

The Council’s Anti-Litter Champion Cllr Ann Crimmings said: “Children are always excited by a visit of Rhys to their school and I’m delighted to see that the clear message of the importance of recycling waste in the county borough is getting through.

“We are at the forefront of recycling and waste management and its thanks to initiatives such as Rhys Cycle that our success rate can only continue to improve.”

Everyone in Rhondda Cynon Taf can recycle from home through the kerbside recycling scheme. Recycling bags can be obtained free from your collection crew or by calling 01443 494700.
