Ferndale Fish & Chip Shop Closed

RCT Council Public Health and Protection Officers have been forced to close down a Ferndale fish and chip shop with immediate effect after discovering a cockroach infestation.
The staff discovered the insects in the food preparation area of Margaritelli’s in 49 High Street during a routine inspection on Monday (January 14) and served a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice on the shop, forcing it to close there and then.
They attended Pontypridd Magistrates’ Court this morning (Jan 16) to secure a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order, which has to be secured within three days of the notice being served, and means the venue cannot re-open until cleared by Public Health and Protection officers.
