Financial Boost for Rhondda Cynon Taf Youth Groups

Voluntary youth organisations throughout the county borough are set to benefit from a share of £182,000 in grants from Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

The Grants to Voluntary Organisations scheme for the 2007/08 financial year have been announced and a total of 42 groups will benefit from the substantial sum.

Organised by the Council’s Youth Service, the scheme offers small grants to organisations that work with young people aged between 11 and 25. This includes such diverse organisations as scout groups, YMCAs, girl guide associations, Boys and Girls Clubs and theatre companies.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Cabinet Member for Youth Services, Cllr Clayton Williams explained: “Once again, organizations of all types will be beneficiaries.

“The Council recognizes the valuable contribution these voluntary organisations make to the lives of young people living in the communities of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

“More than 8,500 young people will benefit from this funding that will provide a wide range of opportunities across the county borough.”

Pontypridd: The organisations due to benefit from the grants in the Pontypridd area are: 1st Beddau Scout Group, Central Glamorgan Girl Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Award Support Group, Gilfach Goch Youth & Community Project, Glyntaff Tenants and Residents Association, Hawthorn Friday Club, Hopkinstown Boys & Girls Club, Llanharan Community Development Project, Llantwit Fardre Young People’s Project, Mid Glamorgan Area Scout Council, Pontypridd & District Gateway Club, Pontypridd Girl Guide Association, Pontypridd Theatre Company, Rhondda Cynon Taf Community Arts, The VIVA Project, Treforest Boys & Girls Club, Urdd Gobaith Cymru, Weston Spirit.

Cynon Valley: The organisations due to benefit from the grants in the Cynon Valley area are: 1s Cynon Valley Scout Group Aberdare Town Centre Project, Bryncynon Community Revival Strategy, Central Glamorgan Girl Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Award Support Group, Hirwaun YMCA, Mid Glamorgan Area Scout Council, Mountain Ash YMCA, Rhigos Youth Centre, Rhondda Cynon Taf Community Arts, Ultimate Stage Company (Mountain Ash), Urdd Gobaith Cymru,
