Mini Polo Festival, Aberdare, March 29th 2008

March 13, 2008

Children from four counties will get in the swim at a mini water polo tournament in Aberdare Pool this month.

The Mini Water Polo Festival for children aged 12 and under will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 4.30-8.30pm and is the final of the South West Wales Region League. Teams will travel from Bridgend, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to compete with Rhondda Cynon Taf’s own ‘Dragons’.

Jean Davies, Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Swimming Development Manager, said: “We are really looking forward to hosting this event, which should be a lot of fun. The children in the RCT team were selected when mini water polo was held as part of the structured free swimming sessions at local pools during the school holidays.”

ยท Mini water polo is played with seven team members in the water and each team must have at least two girls. It is run as an introduction to full water polo so that children can gain an understanding of the full game, which involves scoring goals into the opponents’ net by throwing a ball.
