Bus Timetable Changes for Rhondda Cynon Taf

Changes “on the buses” have led to a series of important travel amendments that passengers need to be aware of.
The variations to services have arisen as a result of an earlier decision by Veolia Transport Cymru to withdraw a local service and to surrender a number of routes it operated on behalf of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
Determined to minimise the impact on communities, the authority has re-tendered for replacement journeys in order to ensure there is no break of service for passengers.
At the same the Council and Veolia have taken the opportunity to improve existing contracts and routes in order to offer a better service.
The changes take effect over the weekend of August 30 until Sept 1 and include:
Rhondda Area
Service 120 Blaecwm – Tonypandy: Monday to Friday early morning journey will be taken over by Stagecoach.
Service 131 Maerdy – Royal Glamorgan Hospital: Sunday journey will be taken over by Glamorgan Bus.
Service 132 Pontypridd – Maerdy: Monday to Saturday evening journey will be taken over by Stagecoach, whilst Sunday evening journeys will be taken over by Glamorgan Bus. The Sunday journeys will be re-timed to offer better connections with services from Cardiff.
Service 150 Porth – Gilfach Goch: Monday to Saturday evening and Sunday journeys will be taken over by Stagecoach.
Service 152 Tonypandy – Tonyrefail: 0808 journey from Tonyrefail to Tonypandy will be re-timed to start from Hendreforgan Estate to provide new link to Tonypandy Comprehensive School.
Service 153 Tonypandy – Gilfach Goch: Monday to Saturday evening journeys will be taken over by Stagecoach.
Service 155 Porth – Ferndale via Stanleytown: service will be taken over by Stagecoach, minor re-timing of afternoon journey.
Service 171 Maerdy – Clydach Vale: Monday to Saturday evening journeys will be taken over by Stagecoach.
Cynon Valley Area
Services X6 and 105 Aberdare – Pontypridd – Cardiff: withdrawal of Monday to Saturday evening commercial journeys to Cardiff by Veolia, whilst Monday to Saturday contract evening journeys between Aberdare and Pontypridd will be taken over by Glamorgan Bus.
Services 26 & 27 Aberdare – Pontypridd: changes to early morning journeys.
Service X55 Aberdare – Swansea: commercial service will be withdrawn by Veolia Transport Cymru. However, improved connections will be available at Glynneath between service nos 8 (Aberdare – Glynneath operated by Stagecoach) and 775 (Merthyr Tydfil – Swansea operated by Silverline).
Pontypridd Area
Service 7 Pontypridd – Blackwood: all daytime journeys will be taken over by Islwyn Borough Transport.
Service 10 Pontypridd – Parc Nantgarw: frequency of commercial daytime service will increase to every 20 minutes.
Service 11 Pontypridd – Treforest: additional journey will be introduced by Veolia Transport Cymru on Monday to Saturday departing Pontypridd at 0905.
Service 12/12A Pontypridd – Oaklands: minor changes to the timetable, with some journeys starting from the railway station.
Service 13 Pontypridd – Upper Boat (Tesco): service will continue to be operated by Veolia Transport Cymru, but under contract to the Council.
Talbot Green Area
Service 47 Local service: several journeys re-timed to provide improved links to the Tesco Superstore.
