Abbey National Customers and RCT Council

Unfortunately, the Abbey National have not processed council tax and business rates direct debits which has resulted in the 15th of January 2009 instalments for council tax and business rates not being paid to the Council. This problem has only affected Abbey National customers but the Council has had assurances from the Abbey that future council tax and business rates payments will be paid as normal.

Obviously, the Council still has to collect these instalments and it will now do this on 15th February 2009. Please be assured that the Council will write to all those affected by this matter to confirm the next payment date and the amount to be paid.

However, any enquiries about your bank or building society account should be referred to the Abbey National as the Council will not be able to offer advice on this.
