Spanish Civil War Anniversary

This year we mark the 70th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War, an event which saw large numbers of Welshmen travel to the continent to fight for what they believed was a battle for freedom against oppression.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is hoping plenty of local people will come forward and share their memories of this historic event.

Rhondda Heritage Park will be holding a month-long exhibition and a series of events in October 2007.

Council officers have put out a plea to members of the public who may have either fought in the Spanish Civil War, or their relatives or friends who remember that period in history to come forward and share their memories of the time.
