An event to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the closure of the Ty Mawr and Lewis Merthyr Collieries takes place this summer.
The event – planned for Saturday 21st June will be held at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery - now the home of Rhondda Heritage Park, Trehafod.
Visitors to the free event will experience a jam - packed day, which re-creates the lives of yesteryear through dress, food, and pastimes.
Choirs, brass bands, folk dance groups, singers, poetry readings and drama performances also feature.
Local school children will be performing in a non-competitive eisteddfod; staff will also be recording memories from those who worked or were involved with the collieries.
Gareth Gill, Education Officer at the Park said: “Recording memories of those involved in the Ty Mawr and Lewis Merthyr Collieries will help future generations better understand how this once great colliery worked and influenced the area.”
